Can you choose lower resolution raw files?
The A7r IV produces massive raw files. In fact, each individual file could be up to 124MB. Now, while you can't choose different resolutions for RAW shooting in full-frame mode. You can reduce the file size by choosing compressed instead of uncompressed (without much noticeable difference in image quality), and if you don't mind shooting with a crop you could further reduce the file size and resolution by selecting Super35 mode in the menu.
Is there a record time limit on the Sony A7r iv?
Sony has removed the internal recording time limit on the A7r IV even when shooting 4K UHD video.
What should I look out for when using memory recall features on the Sony A7r IV?
Memory recall is a great feature that provides you with fast access to important setting configurations for different styles of shooting. Now Sony does not save that data internally but to the card. Which is good because if you initialize the camera the file will remain accessible on your memory card to reload into the camera. But, keep in mind that if you format your card you will lose those settings along with any images.
How do I enable touch focus on the Sony A7r IV?
If you are like me, you probably discarded the manual and went straight to using the camera and thought it was broken when you tapped on the screen and nothing happened. Well, it's not broken the touch focus feature is turned off by default. So, access the 2nd page of the setup menu, scroll down to Touch Operation and turn it on. Voila.
How do I enable the new touch focus tracking on the Sony A7r IV?
Once Touch operation is activated, you now have access to touch focus tracking which is new to the Sony A7riv. To activate this feature, head over to the 2nd camera menu tab page 10/11 under custom operation2 and change touch focus to touch tracking.
Does the Sony A7r IV have an internal interval shooting/time-lapse mode
YES, Finally. Thank you, Sony. if you like to shoot or start testing out Time-lapse photography, the Sony a7r IV allows you to easily setup time-lapse shooting in-camera. Now it won't create the time-lapse video for you in the camera, but it does take you through the steps for capturing all the images needed to create your own video on your computer. Check out the first camera menu tab and scroll over to the Shoot Mode/Drive1 and select interval shoot function
How do I enable eye-detect AF for pets and humans?
The A7r IV has incredible focus capabilities, not only do you have real-time face and eye detect AF for humans, but you have it for animals as well. At least for cats and dogs for the time being, and possibly more species with future firmware updates. Now, you will have to manually choose from Human and animal in the menu the cameras menu. To do that, check out Sony's Eye AF settings in the first camera menu tab under AF2.
