Some people can quit smoking "cold turkey," but I've always preferred my turkey warm, so I invented the "daisy chain" method for quitting. Addictions tend to leave a gaping hole in their wake, so I down-regulated my desire for cigarettes by replacing them with natural smokes or American Spirits, then vaping, then Swedish snus, then nicotine gum, then hemp cigarettes, and then finally, a healthy oral fixation like tea, water, or mints. Asking someone to just give up a crutch overnight is often too much, and you shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and while smokeless tobacco or hemp cigarettes aren't perfect, the vast majority of scientists agree that they pose fewer health risks. If you're somehow who's hit your head trying to quit the most addictive drug on Earth (arguably more addictive than heroin), you might have success with these steps. I know I did!
