Bill Declaring Ex-FATA's Minerals Govt Property Sparks Outrage

KP Assembly has passed a bill declaring all mines and minerals in former FATA as the property of the government. The bill was passed without any debate in the house.

Activists and social media users are outraged over the development. Twitter users protested the bill using the hashtag #StopLootingExFATA, which went on to become a trending topic on Twitter.

Opposition leaders have said that the treasury passed the bill
Without allowing the opposition any debate on the matter. They termed the government’s move as undemocratic and said
that they were not allowed to deliberate over the bill.

The PTI government’s disregard for discussion and debate
on issues of national importance is unfortunate. This culture reeks of autocracy and must end.
