Chia seeds are one of the healthiest seed varieties and are considered to be a superfood by many health conscious individuals. This is because chia seeds are very nutrient dense, contain unique compounds that can promote our overall health and can also promote heart health. 1 to 2 tablespoons of chia seeds is more then enough to obtain these health benefits if you are eating them regularly. Now, lets discuss some of the amazing health benefits of consuming chia seeds.
1. First, chia seeds are packed with many different vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that can keep our body healthy and reduce the risk of disease. Chia seeds are a good source of manganese, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, magnesium and copper to name a few. They also contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, dietary fibre and contain a good amount of protein.
2. Consuming chia seeds can also help with digestive health and promote proper digestive system functioning. This is often attributed to the high amounts of fibre that they contain. In just one ounce of chia seeds there is over 10 grams of fibre. This allows chia seeds to increase regularity and prevent unwanted digestive ailments such as constipation, cramps and gas.
