Viral Video of Man dies in underwater marriage proposal before girlfriend could say 'yes'

A Louisiana man dove beneath the water to propose to his would-be wife, but he never got the chance to hear her answer.

Steven Weber Jr. popped the question on a trip to Tanzania this week with his girlfriend, Kenesha Antoine. In a video of the proposal later posted to Facebook after his death, Weber is seen with a mask and flippers while holding up a note sealed in a plastic bag.

“I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But... Everything I love about you, I love more every day,” one side read, before he flipped it over and revealed the other side. “Will you please be my wife. Marry me???”

The circumstances of Weber’s death are not immediately clear, but Antoine posted on Facebook Friday, “You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!"

“We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable,” she added.
