This is the 10th time I heard of this story... in the last few months. An well established international brand enter China with a join venture partner or maybe 2 and after a year of struggling getting no where in China they ask for help from their JV partner in China and the answer they got? "Sorry, nothing we can do...". Actually, as bad as this sounds it's actually one of the better scenario. The reality with partnership in China is a lot of partner promise they sky and a bright future very few will actual help you through if it doesn't go as "suggested". Don't get me wrong working with the right partner is critical for China, as most foreign brand really have no idea how China works. But you don't have to get marry to one for 5 years and later find out it isn't going to work out...
