On average, three women in the United States are killed each day by a current or former partner. With firearms greatly increasing the odds of homicide inside homes with reports of domestic violence, some states are making efforts to seize firearms from those with orders of protection against them. Meanwhile, other states have passed legislation making it easier for those who file protection orders to carry a weapon without a license. We sent Gianna Toboni to meet the women working to fix the shortcomings of a legal system that often fails to protect women.
