Promptly dispatched by the New York Herald to track down Livingstone is young and intrepid reporter, Henry Morton Stanley (Emmy nominee Aidan Quinn, Benny & Joon). A man with personal demons of his own—namely as a bitter, isolated, and abandoned child toiling in a Welsh workhouse—Stanley is looking for his own liberation from the past. One way to do it is to forge ahead toward the future on worthwhile missions such as this—heading a caravan from Zanzibar to the far reaches of the “great continent.”
