Throughout the latest Star Wars films it’s obvious that the First Order was incredibly powerful. Sure, it didn’t have the straight numbers that the Galactic Empire did but it had a ton of resources. But where did they all come from? If you’re not caught up on the canon you’ll want to stop reading now in order to avoid a few important plot points. The Rise of Skywalker provided us with some insight on how Stormtroopers were acquired and trained as well as what Emperor Palpatine had to do with all of this. Supreme Leader Snoke played his part in conscripting Kylo Ren and few things are as potent as someone with a command of the Dark Side of the Force. Leia Organa tried her best to prevent the First Order from starting in the first place and we’ll let you know how they managed to get funding in spite of her. Darth Sidious was a major player but there were a lot of things that contributed to this massive shift in power.

What do you think about the way this evil organization rose to prominence in this fictional universe? Is it too unbelievable even for this fantasy franchise or is it actually unsettlingly close to how power is often acquired in real life?
