Cervical cancer is the only cancer with which we have a vaccine. The ideal age for the vaccine is for both boys and girls before the development of the actual sexual age. In India the ideal stage for cervical cancer vaccination is between 9 to 11 years. In many countries abroad even for men, even for younger boys between the age of 9 to 13. In adults the maximum age till which the vaccine could be given could be till 45 years of age in women and 26 years of age in men. In uses with transgender or in issues with men to men sexual activity this vaccine can be taken as early as the age of 21 years.

Now coming to the second part of vaccine, yes HPV vaccine is completely safe like any other vaccine, the minor side effects of this vaccine could be itching at the site of vaccine, or pain at the site of vaccine, development of mild to moderate fever at the time of vaccination or a day or two post the time of vaccination could be a Gullian Barre syndrome, a demyelinating neuropathy, which have rarely been documented in medical evidence.
