I couldn’t find any information on Eve Madison, except for some sketchy details provided on the rear cover of this album. Apparently, she hails from Holland (town unknown) originally, but I assume that she must have settled in South Africa at a young age. She released a 7” single with the songs “An African Lullaby (Tula Baba) / Wanuki” (as Eva Madison & The Bertha Gray Singers) in 1963, when she was either 15 or 16 years old (given that the cover information indicates that she had just turned 21 in January 1969).
She twice won the “Singer of the Year” award at the Durban Song Festival. In January 1968 she won the Sunday Tribune and the Virginia Lee trophies with her performance of “I Still Love You”, and in January 1969 she has again won the same two trophies for her presentation of “Alone”. Eve received much of her training from the legendary singer, Virginia Lee.
This song is off the album “Alone With Eve Madison”, released in 1969.
MANY THANKS TO MARQ VAS FOR THE COVER PICTURE!
