Chaos and confusion marked the first day of FASTag rollout at the Surat toll plaza on Sunday. Fights, long tailback of vehicles and confusion among commuters highlighted the lack of preparedness among agencies. While many of the commuters were unaware that FASTags would be mandatory for crossing the toll through most of the lanes, many others rued that there was no proper segregation of lanes for tag users and those paying by cash.
