China to boost rare-earth mineral mining — what’s it mean?

China generates around 70 percent of mined rare-earth minerals and controls 90 percent of the market. Rare-earth minerals are used in smart phones, high powered magnets, targeting systems, jets and more. President Trump has called on increasing production in the US, while Greenland and India also hope to compete with Beijing for dominance in the sector.
