✔️SUBSCRIBE✔️ Why is the Generation X population size so much smaller than other generations? What are the reasons for population decline?
Let’s look at the statistics.
There are 80 million baby boomers, 93 million millennials, and only about 50 million members of Generation X. Why such a drastic difference?
Now, I don’t know what the main factor is, but there are a couple of possibilities. One possibility is that the uncertain atmosphere surrounding events of that time period – for example, the ongoing Vietnam War – caused the drop in birth rate.
The reasoning here is that with so much social turmoil and instability, people would be less likely to want to have kids and this would cause the Generation X population to be small. This was a period when a stable future didn’t seem assured.
However, I think there could be other reasons for population decline during this time.
You see, in 1965 they introduced the birth control pill. Could this be the reason why less babies were being born? Is Generation X a smaller population due to the pill?
Unfortunately, there’s no way to know for sure what caused the drop in birth rate. But I do think it’s interesting to speculate about the possible causes. It may not be an important part of marketing to this generation, but it causes one to wonder.
The reasons for population decline may not be provable, but they are interesting to speculate about. The Generation X population size is less than that of the millennials and baby boomers. That’s a fact. Beyond that, nothing is proven.
