XmR charts. A better tool for understanding what performance is doing. XmR charts. A better tool to understand what performance is doing and how to set meaningful targets.
For too long managers and leaders have used KPIs (measures with targets) to set performance expectations that are about chasing the number itself, rather than gain an improvement in performance.
We really need to know what performance is doing first, and then set some targets (a small number to focus on) that are about measurable improvement.
XmR charts (statistical process control charts) have been used by performance improvement practitioners for decades, but seem to be unknown to many leaders and managers. They are a great tool for knowing what performance is doing firstly, and then getting more deliberate about how we decide what to improve and how to go about it.
If you would like to know more, just drop me a note and I’ll get the whitepaper to you that describes more about this approach.
