Video light is an essential part of any video shoot ‘cuz it helps you or your model look better on camera and highlight important details in the frame with different lighting schemes. Consider this even though you can’t manage natural light settings. Reflectors can help you remove shadows from your face. The dappled shade of a tree can create a beautiful artistic effect.

A path in the woods, pond bank, or park can be a nice natural filming location. Roofs, brick walls, or places with a lot of street art will work great for those who are into urban shots. But don’t forget about the perspective of the frame!

We won’t give you any tips on fighting public speaking anxiety, but we will concentrate on how to plan a video shoot in public places. Select a location so that you won’t disturb other people and so others won’t disturb you as well. Also, some people are not happy about being filmed so you should consider this as well.

If you want to shoot a vlog, video interview, or any other type of video, you’ll need good audio quality; so stay away from malls with their loudspeaker systems, busy streets with heavy traffic, and large playgrounds with heaps of happy, noisy kids. Avoid shooting when it’s windy. But if you have no choice but to film in a windy place, microphone windscreens will help you remove noise from your video.

No doubt, you’re likely to find more interesting video shooting locations somewhere outside rather than inside. Pay attention to details and accents. Greenery, flowers, buildings painted in bright colors… these things can grab too much of viewers’ attention, but at the same time, they can give your picture some liveliness and make your viewers look at it. That’s the advantage. If you like your location but it seems to be way too busy, use a smaller depth of field to blur your bright background.
