Fragile Dreams OST #1 - A Dedication to...Everyone

Fragile Dreams OST #1 - A Dedication to...Everyone This track comes from the Moonlight Tracks OST disc that came as a pre-order bonus with Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon when it released for Wii in 2009 in North America. The music for this game is composed by Riei Saito.

If you've never heard of Fragile Dreams, it is one of my personal all-time favorite games. It is an emotional and heartfelt action-adventure RPG with some light survival elements and puzzle-solving. It is developed by tri-Crescendo, who also developed Baten Kaitos and Eternal Sonata.

The world of Fragile Dreams is set in a near-future post-apocalyptic Tokyo, but without hordes of zombies or mutated creatures or anything like that. Instead, mainly, all the buildings and landmarks are simply falling into disrepair and are overrun with overgrown plants and trees. This is because all the humans on the planet seem to have disappeared. Or have they...?

This is where our hero, a young boy named Seto, comes in. Seto is forced to leave his quaint shelter home when his grandfather and only human companion passes away. Seto was born around or shortly after the enigmatic apocalyptic event that left the world seemingly empty and decaying, so he has no memory of what may have caused it or even what the world was like before it happened. But one thing is certain: With the death of his grandfather, he now finds himself completely alone for the first time in his life...

And so, armed with only a flashlight and whatever blunt objects he can salvage from the decay, he must set out on a long and lonely journey in search of any other humans who may possibly still be alive among the ruins and rubble. Along the way he may even uncover more about the mysteries of why everyone seemingly disappeared in the first place. What kinds of acquaintances will he stumble across as he explores? What sort of sinister spirits might seek to impede his path? Perhaps some remnants of the forgotten past will come along to keep him company...

It might be difficult (and expensive) to track down a copy of Fragile Dreams nowadays, but if it sounds interesting to you, I would say it is more than worth it. Even to this day, I still listen to this music on occasion and it never fails to transport me back to a time when I was younger and had discovered this hidden gem of a game for the first time.

Certain tracks, even still, are prone to cause me to have misty eyes all these years later.
