Beautiful TILE STAIRCASE...Considerations Before You Begin!

Beautiful TILE STAIRCASE...Considerations Before You Begin! In this video I explain how to tile a staircase and the considerations you need to take into account before you begin.
Code in California for stairs in residential areas with less than 10 occupants is a max riser height of 7-1/2" and a minimum riser height of 4-1/2". There can be no more than 3/8" variation between any two risers on the staircase.
The minimum tread depth on any stair is 11".
make sure to protect the edges with an edge profile or stairnosing profile. Schluter has many available to choose from.
Lastly, make sure that the substrate is sound becuase it will get repeated foot traffic on the same exact spots over and over again. We like to use Ardex Flexbone underlayment over a 3/4" minimum plywood with max joist spacing of 16" O.C.
