This shorter video will take a look at the DPS loss on magicka DPS (specifically a Warden) due to the changes made in Scalebreaker. It is without a doubt a DPS loss if you make no changes to your build, so we also make the appropriate adjustments to account for this. Without changing anything, it looks like the DPS loss is around 4k or so on the trial dummy on a Warden. I suspect it'll vary more widely across classes here than it would be with stamina DPS, as the "class agnostic" abilities used by magicka DPS have not been touched too much by the changes. For example, Nightblades will likely see the least amount of change, since only Blockade and Path were changed, while Templars may see a large change due to changes to Solar Barrage, Blazing Spear, and Vampire's Bane.
If we make the appropriate adjustments, we find that we have an overall boost in DPS. For a Warden specifically, if we replace Winter's Revenge with Soul Trap, add in Entropy and Destructive Reach, and swap Blockade to Unstable Wall, we see a sizeable 6k+ increase in DPS. I suspect that, should we make appropriate adjustments to other classes, we'd continue to see an increase in DPS. While Destructive Reach may not be as strong compared to other class DoTs (Winter's Revenge was nerfed fairly hard), Degeneration and Soul Trap look to be very powerful DoTs, with Degeneration also providing some additional sustain while active.
While we're not sure whether Soul Trap or Entropy is going to be nerfed in future patches, the changes made in Scalebreaker look to be an overall DPS boost, rather than a DPS nerf. It looks like the developers were aiming to increase the disparity between AoE DPS builds and single target DPS builds, and to some extent, they've succeeded. However, I'd still argue that cleave is looking pretty strong, particularly since Soul Trap hits up to 3 targets.
