Arctic council re-elected India to its council as observer country, which is only given to 12 countries in the world. Most importantly this gives India opportunity for scientific research in Arctic region. This intergovernmental forum works for the sustainable development of arctic region and works for safer environment and protects arctic region from climate change. In 2013, India was given this status and now again India has been re-elected which will provide India ample opportunities for scientific research.
